My
name is Ruben Calo, and I live in Buenos Aires, Argentina
with my wife Aurora.
I started making knives in 1989 when I was living on a
small apartment and my biggest tool was a hand drill.
When in 1993 I had the chance to move to an old house
with a big patio and a free first floor to build up a
workshop there, I've decided that I've had enough with
office work, and I've become a full time knifemaker, at
the age of 36 years old.
All my knives are completely hand made. I make my own
designs and I don't use templates to make them or blueprints
to replicate them, making each one of my knives a unique
and exclusive one.
The three main steels I use for my knives are SAE 5160,
K110 (D2) and N678.
I make my blades using the stock removal method and I
do my own heat treatment. |
Ordering an Asado / BBQ Knife
Hand rubbed carbon 1075.
4 3/4" (12 cm) blade, 5 1/8" (13 cm) handle. Overall 9 7/8" (25 cm) It weights about 4.5 oz (130 grams)
Olive wood handle with nickel silver pins. Thumb / index rest.
I've designed this knife with a tad longuer handle so its blade could be used on its entirety when cutting meat on Asados or BBQs, but as I also wanted it to be usable when eating the meat on the plate, I've dropped the blade a bit, resulting in a really useful knife.
I'm now offering this knife model for $175 shipped and PayPal'd, waiting time 2-3 months. More info on this page. |
